About the Author
Angela Hall is currently Lead Biomedical Scientist in Immunology for the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, where she runs and teaches the Specialist Diploma in Immunology course, and a member of the Specialist Advisory Panel for Immunology at the Institute of Biomedical Science. Having trained as a Biomedical Scientist in the Immunology Department at the Churchill Hospital Oxford, she made rapid progression to BMS grade 3 gained chartered scientist status in 2008. Christine Yates is Senior Chief Biomedical Scientist in Immunology and Haematology at the Hull Royal Infirmary, a member of the IBMS Specialist Advisory Panel for Immunology, IBMS Chief Examiner for Immunology (2006 to 2009) and has been CPA Assessor for Immunlogy since 2003.

A Fantastic Intro Guide to the Paranormal

The Weiser Field Guide to the Paranormal by Judith Joyce is a go-to guide for those interested in a broad range of paranormal subjects. If this is an area that interests you, this is an excellent book to enjoy on a dark and stormy night.

This is a well written guide to just about everything you would want to read about on the paranormal. Judith Joyce does an excellent job covering large range of topics to give a broad spectrum of the paranormal field. Nothing is covered too extensively, which works fine for this type of a book. If there is something that really interests you, there are other books available on just that topic that you can read more about the specific subject.

I've been reading and researching the paranormal for over ten years, and even I found new topics in this book to read and do further research on. This is a superb book that will hopefully entice you to also want to read more about the subjects that you find interesting. Be careful with that though, because you might want to learn more about everything! I highly recommend this book to everyone curious about the paranormal field too.

Good survey of the paranormal or unusual -

This book is a good general survey of the unusual or paranormal. It covers a lot of ground in a very small space, and has the advantage of being well written and of broad general interest. As it is a survey it brushes over topics that are subjects for books of their own, thus it will probably annoy the specialist, but as a general survey of the field of the weird and poaranormal, it is a good read. As with most surveys, its virtue is also its fault. No survey can please anyone who is experienced in an area it covers so quickly. Reccomended for public and school libraries, where it will encourage further explorations of the many subjects it covers.

Like others I was very confused by how little content ...

Like others I was very confused by how little content there is. I thought that maybe I had only downloaded a sample to my iPad only to realize this was the entire book. I liked the exercises, and I liked where it was going, I was just really confused by how the book seemed to just stop.

I would gladly pay more for this book and give it a 4 or 5 star review if it had most substance.

Where Is the Content?

I am confused and feel ripped off. I bought the Kindle edition. Although Amazon says the print edition is 68 pages long, the Kindle edition was 44 tiny pages long (almost a quarter of which was the introduction), and most pages had only one sentence, or one simple picture and, and, that was it! That was the whole book? Okay, it only cost $5, but the write-up did not prepare me for receiving such a tiny amount of content in return. Either the print edition is nothing like the Kindle edition (If it is, then it would be piracy to charge the $30+ for such pitiful content), or this is a deliberate scam. Disappointed, Amazon. Very.

Essential in your toolset... if you are among my breed

After devouring this book in one sitting, I feel annoyed to have to distill my feelings about it into words, because I can't sketch my review here visually! I have the paperback and conclude it is a SUPERB posession. Why the long thought? Because when you get this book in the box and see how sweetly concise it is, you might at first understand why other readers wonder if it was worth supporting the author with $30 compared to magnum opuses that are stuffed with material. It is, because you can't compare them apples to apples. A lot of how to books are almost like information overload of which you'll only use or remember 10% of. This book should be compared to the thousands charged in design thinking training courses, and, Jose is getting that from companies yet giving you the core of it all in here. If you think different, if you're an innovator, a doer more than a dreamer, you'll understand the indirect value in Sketch Thinking. She is also the co-author (with JoAnn Chartier) of Love Untamed: True Romances Stories of the Old West, Gilded Girls: Women Entertainers of the Old West, and She Wore A Yellow Ribbon: Women Patriotsand Soldiers of the Old West.The Cowboy and the Senorita and Happy Trails she co-wrote with Howard Kazanjian.

A Glimpse into the Women of The Wild West

As I lover of Pioneer history, especially in terms of the women of the times, I found The Doctor Wore Petticoats a nice introductory to not only early medicine on the frontier, but to the bravery and fortitude a certain group of tenacious women showed in order to make their way in a man's world. Chris Enss details the lives of 12 different women who won against the odds and became qualified and sought after physicians in the Wild West. Accompanying these short vignettes are some wonderful black and white photos of each woman written about, and some interesting quotes taken from their own diaries and journals. At 125 pages this is just a short glimpse into the world of female doctors in the mid to late 1800s, and my only wish was that the book was a bit longer and offered more stories about each woman presented. Other than that I found this book very enjoyable and eye opening into a world most of us are unknown to.

IT CAPTURES YOUR INTEREST AND KEEPS IT...

I picked this book up to read around 8pm in the evening. I didn't put it down

until I was finished reading it at 2:15am. Although I am able to speed read

this book was so interesting and entertaining that I couldn't miss a single

word. This book is an absolute must for anyone interested in the Old West.

It combined humor, struggle and determination to give a very insightful and

educating book. The book gave a very vivid picture of female doctors in the

Old West. As a bonus it has a wonderful collection of "Frontier Medicine"

listed in the back of the book. Remedies such as carrying an onion in your

pocket to prevent smallpox and owl broth to cure whooping cough are just

a few. If you pick up this book...clear your schedule because you won't be

able to put it down until you have read every single page.

Another GREAT book by Chris Enss!

After reading Hearts West and enjoying it so much, I looked into other books by this author and discovered this jewel. It was an incredibly informative and interesting read. Chris Enss is a gifted writer. She gives the reader insight to a world that was so vastly different from that of today. After reading each woman's story in the book, I longed for more. That is my only disappointment; that I can't know more about each of these women Ms. Enss writes about. I highly recommend it to anyone who is even remotely interested in what life was like for women in the Old West.
