This book is beatifully done, and there are some fine examples. A bit complicated for the beginner but perfect for those enhancing to perfecticting tecnique and style. Heavy emphasis on the cadel families. A must for the library of any serious calligrapher.

A Superb and Priceless Volume

As an avid calligrapher, I cannot put a price on this book. What separates your work from the work of other lettering artists is your originality, and I'm afraid that there simply isn't another book that can teach you to flourish with ease and uniqueness.

Where other books would have you copy examples, this book aids in learning the principles behind what makes some flourishing beautiful and what makes others look like hen-scratch. You can apply Hildebrandt's formulas to your flourishing practice until they become second nature... then the sky is the limit.

If you find your calligraphy looking too basic or lacking, try flourishing. When used with economy, flourishing can make a world of difference. But you can only learn to properly execute flourishes with this book. I promise you, you will not find another like it.

This book is a great addition to my collection of calligraphy books... and it is unlike any other... I will be a flourisher for sure if I can do all of this... the book is also of very good quality, heavy paper and sturdy binding.. a great value.

Practical Channel Hydraulics is the first reference guide that focuses in detail on estimating roughness, conveyance and afflux in fluvial hydraulics. With its universal approach and the application of metric units, both book and software serve an international audience of consultants and engineers dealing with river modelling, flood risk assessment, maintenance of watercourses and the design of drainage systems. Suited as course material for training graduate Master’s students in civil and environmental engineering or geomorphology who focus on river and flood engineering, as well as for professional training in flood risk management issues, open channel flow hydraulics and modelling.

About the Author
Bahaa E. A. Saleh, PhD, has been Professor and Chairman of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Boston University since 1994. He is the author of Photoelectron Statistics and is a Fellow of the IEEE and OSA. Saleh is the recipient of the 1999 OSA Esther Hoffman Beller Award for outstanding contributions to optical science and engineering education and the 2004 SPIE BACUS award for his contributions to photomask technology.

Malvin Carl Teich, PhD, is a faculty member at Boston University with joint appointments in the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Physics, and Biomedical Engineering. He is also Professor Emeritus of Engineering Science and Applied Physics at Columbia University. Teich is the coauthor of Fractal-Based Point Processes (Wiley), and is a Fellow of the IEEE, APS, OSA, ASA, and AAAS. He is the recipient of the 1969 IEEE Browder J. Thompson Memorial Prize Award, the 1997 IEEE Morris E. Leeds Award, and the Memorial Gold Medal of Palacky University.

The Go-To Reference

Great book! They assigned/suggested this book as a study guide for the preliminary exams in my Ph.D. program, and it has remained my go-to reference ever since. It consists of chapter-length (or longer) treatments of topics that warrant their own textbooks and graduate classes, but they always contain the most essential information, clearly explained.

I have the 1st edition, but it looks like I will now have to order the 2nd edition too. This book is just completely indispensable for students and professionals in the field.

Vitamin D? More Like Vitamin Dynamic!

Like Mr. Bowles, I had heard all my life that consuming too much Vitamin D could be disastrous for your health. I had also started acquiring a few chronic health issues in my old age. My hands had started to become arthritic, I was suffering from near constant indigestion, and I'd started walking with a limp associated with a bad hip. In any case, I was starting to wear down and I thought it would only get worse from there. I found this book while looking through various self-help books on Amazon, and it has been a lifesaver. I hadn't been taking a single ounce of Vitamin D, but a few months after reading this book, I was already up to 50,000 IU and I was experiencing positive results. I was gaining function back in my hands, my limp had gone away, and my stomach was feeling better than ever.

I guess I can also attribute some of my overall better health to Simple Natural Cures: Cheap & Effective Remedies for Everyday Common Ailments by Kevin Richardson. I also found it while perusing other Amazon ebooks, and I have to tell you that it is chock-full of valuable information. It has natural cures for everything from indigestion to eczema, and I use just about every one of them. While the consistent dosage of Vitamin D3 certainly helps, I still enjoy using some of the cures found in Richardson's book. It has helped me combat headaches, coughs, and, of course, my nagging indigestion. I feel like I'm 20 again and it's all thanks to these two books. My pain is minimal, my mobility is back, and I'm back to living life how I want to live it.

While it may seem a little crazy to take such a huge dosage of Vitamin D3, I have experienced no ill effects to speak of. My body feels like it's in peak physical condition and it's getting better every day. I'm even feeling happier and more energized with each passing day. I have Mr. Bowles' book and Simple Natural Cures to thank for that. I can't wait to see where these natural cures and my dosage of Vitamin D3 will take me next. I've already started playing basketball again which I never thought I'd do in a million years.

This book will become a classic for vitamin D proponents

I read this book

with interest because I have been taking large doses of vitamin D
for more than 5 years. I should mention that I am a 91.5 year old male who started
taking 5000 iu's of vitamin D 5 years ago, with 25(OH)D3 level of about 45 ng/ml.
I gradually increased my D intake and have been taking 12000 iu, with a 25(OH)D3
level of 90 to 97 for the past 2 years, along with vitamin K2. My blood work has
not shown any significant changes over this period. Several things have occured in my health situation that now suspect, after reading Jeff's ebook, have been caused
by my relatively high D level:
1. My atrial fibrillation (afib) has been cured, at least for the last 8 months,
after the third cardioversion procedure, when my D3 level was near 100 ng/ml.
The previous two attempts,unsuccessful, where done when my D level was low.
2. After serving underhanded for the last 3 years, because of a shoulder problem,

Cured My Incurable Psoriasis with 50,000/day in 2 months!!

This is the most helpful book of the century. Jeff is a genius out of the box thinker to come up with an epic tome like this. He researches thousands of studies on D3 to find out the great benefits with almost zero side effects. Then he uses himself as an experiment to find the right dosage. The studies show almost every disease is eliminated with large dose D3 because it is a hormone naturally made in the body from the sun.
I just got back my lab results from using 50,000 units of D-3 with Vitamin K-2 MenaQ7 (Metabolic Maintenance) daily for 2 months. My test showed 150 ng/mL, this is in the high range of what most authorities say it should be but I hate to reduce it. Just four months ago I had the worst Psoriasis you could imagine covering my body. I could only sleep on my stomach I felt like Job from the Bible. My research found almost nothing that would help it. I started on a mostly raw vegan, gluten free diet with super foods and super herbs and no sugar and some cultured vegetables. I then began to take the D-3. I now feel so good and have had so many good results besides the disappearance of the Psoriasis.
